The Tormented Philosophy III

The Tormented Philosophy" Series

The Tormented Philosophy series marks a new artistic movement by international contemporary artist Zhou Yiwen, focusing on line, color, and emotion. Through this body of work, Zhou develops an artistic philosophy rooted in lived experience — the philosophy of line, the polyphony of life.

Picasso, initially influenced by Monet and Carrière, employed blue as his dominant tone to heighten the poetic resonance of his paintings. During that period, he witnessed poverty, despair, and solitude; the tragic suicide of his close friend Casagemas deepened his melancholy, infusing the Blue Period with sorrow and introspection.

In contrast, Zhou Yiwen’s blue lines symbolize the blue veins of humanity. In an era of intensifying geopolitical fragmentation, his contemporary art expresses a worldview that reconciles pain with tenderness, chaos with clarity. His works are suffused with dreamlike visions of the future and a pure, obsessive love. The dense blue lines form an enclosed space where a single feather rests — a quiet revelation, like a moment of Zen unveiled.
